Solar accounts for 30 percent of new U.S. energy added so far this year

A new analysis released today by SEIA/GTM Research shows Montana ranks 22nd for solar installations in the first quarter of 2017. Nationally, solar accounted for 30 percent of new energy capacity in that time.

This week, Governor Bullock vetoed SB 154, a bill that would have eliminated critical tax incentives for renewable energy projects. This bill was one of many pieces of anti-solar legislation to pass in the Montana state house year. Thank you for standing up for solar, Governor Bullock!

Blocking the Sun

Solar power is clean, affordable and popular with the American people. The amount of solar energy installed in the U.S. has quadrupled in the last four years, and the U.S. has enough solar energy installed to power one in 20 American homes.

America’s solar progress is largely the result of bold, forward-thinking public policies that have created a strong solar industry while putting solar energy within the financial reach of millions more Americans.
